HVAC

The school has finally decided to change the 40-year-old heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system in our building. We haven't had air conditioning for over a month. We also have wires hanging from the ceiling. Wish you were here. Misery loves company.

Here we go again...

So, here I am AGAIN in Las Vegas for the SECOND time this week.

We're staying at the Gold Coast and the room is actually pretty nice. I haven't left it since we checked in  6 hours ago.

The view isn't so bad either.

Seriously, how lame am I? I'm here in Vegas and I bring three books to read.

I'm also drinking wine from a jug out a plastic cup I found in the bathroom. I know, I know, I'm getting wild and crazy.

This time I'm here for my friend Kris's bachelorette party. In less than 11 hours I will be at the [somewhere] attempting to learn how to [do something]. I'm pretty sure I will look like a convulsing monkey, but what the hell, it still sounds interesting and I get to be with the family.

I'm just glad I won't be going to see Chippendales again. Frankly, gay men doing choreographed dancing does nothing for me. I'm sure a few drinks and a good conversation would do more for me than watching that show.

We're also going to [some place] later tomorrow night. Once again the [events there] do nothing for me, but that's not the point. The point is to have fun with the girls and I'm sure that will get accomplished.

I'd like to say I'll let you know what happens, but what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right?

Vegas

I just spent the last three days in Las Vegas.

The whole purpose of the trip was for Randy, John, Krista, The Verg, and me to spend time together. Well, that didn't really happen. It turns out that Randy and Krista, and The Verg are gambling machines and John and I are not.

I ended up spending most of my time with Matt and John. I still had fun though.

I wanted a new bathing suite and found this shop called Wet! on Yelp. There, I met this wonderful man named Spero who gave me a lot of suggestions on what bathing suit would be the most flattering on me. The man is a true artist when it comes to custom swimwear. I'm guessing that he has had years of experience working with show girls and strippers in Las Vegas. The shop is located on Sahara off of Arville, or what I like to call "stripper row". He also gave me some suggestion to take care of some "problem areas" I have. I ended up ordering a custom bathing suit and I can't wait to see how it turns out. Really, after the experience I had with Spero I feel like I never ever want to shop anywhere else for swimwear ever again. Everything must come from Spero!

After swim suit shopping Matt, John, and I had dinner Namaste. Now that was some pretty good Indian food! I can't wait to go back there again either. The samosas are to die for and I normally don't like chicken tikka, but this one was juicy and delicious. The owner even sings occasionally.

Rather than gamble Matt, John, and I decided to go ride the zip line over freemont street. So much fun!

At some point I managed to break my favorite pair of heels.

So Matt and I went back to my room to change shoes, but I didn't have the keys so we just ended up lying on the floor waiting for randy to show up with the keys. I'm pretty sure we weren't that drunk, but it seemed right at the time.

After a relatively short night of drinking we Krista, John, Verg, Matt and I decided that nachos and chow mien was a perfect combination.

That pretty much concluded our trip, the next morning we all went home pretty well drained.

Kitchen Done! Well, almost...

About a year ago my dad decided to let Randy and I live in his rental house. We got the keys in late April and this is what the kitchen looked like on that very first day we went to check it out:

Randy and I made a decision to remodel the kitchen less than 5 minutes after seeing it. To say that the former renters left the place in less than ideal conditions would have been an understatement. Nothing in my arsenal of cleaning supplies was going to get that place clean enough for me to store food in it. I still gag a little every time I think about it. Also, I'm pretty sure those were the original cabinets from 1957.

Less than two weeks later Randy began the process of demolishing our kitchen with our friend The Verg.

After I finished designing the kitchen, it took Randy about a week to install all of the cabinets. A few weeks before the counters were installed Randy and I threw a party for our friend John. Rather than leave the cabinet tops open, Randy placed some cardboard on them so it would look better for our guests. Yes, the alcohol was flowing and for some reason "someone" decided they wanted to sit on our makeshift counter and this is the result:

Well, at least there was no major damage to the cabinets or to our friend, aside from a few broken supports and perhaps a bruised ego.

The kitchen is pretty much done now, it just needs a few finishing touches and some art on the walls. Here you go folks, our new kitchen!

And Georgia, please stay off the counters this time. :)

Old News

I have a friend. Let's call him "Ike."

Every now and then he sends me links to things he's just discovered and tells me I should check it out. While it's appreciated, it's almost always things I've already seen either on Twitter or Facebook - last week! Now, that doesn't seem like a long time, but it is just long enough for the things he shares with me to be old news.

Ike refuses to get on Facebook or any social network for that matter. It's fine, social networks aren't for everyone. I get that. It's just a really useful communication tool for me and life is a little easier with it around. At the very least, I don't find things out a week after everyone else does.

I'm Back!

So, I’ve finally made it back to blogging. Oh, how I’ve missed it.

A few things have happened since my last post. I've moved into a new house, my sister got engaged, Randy’s cousin got married, and I took a bath.

Getting a new house is fantastic, but of course it's a lot of work. We replaced all the carpet, painted every wall inside the house, and completely gutted the kitchen. The new cabinets are in, but I still don't have counters. Please never take counters for granted. They are amazing things to have.
