Happy Birthday to Me!!!

Today is my birthday and I'm one of those people who LOVES celebrate to my birthday.

This year was different. I wanted a quiet birthday. My birthday gift to myself this year was just time to reassess my life and my goals.  I just got out of a relationship that ended badly a few weeks prior. For the first time in over 20 years, I'm single and I plan to stay that way... for a while.

There are things I want to do with my life and having to balance that with time and consideration for a significant other is not something I want right now. I have a lot of quirks and I know that it can drive someone nuts. I'm 37 and have been compromising with someone else for the better part of my life. I'm taking this time for me.

I hope you keep stopping by this blog in the days and weeks to come. Hopefully, we can begin this new chapter in my life together.

birthday gifts

i'm at a point in my life in which i don't really want much for my birthday anymore. i have just about everything i want (unless someone wants to by me a nice 6000 sq. ft. loft in beautiful southern california).

this year i got a lot of very practical gifts. my mother-in-law and sister-in-law got me some clothes, randy got me a hard drive, ron got me a new back pack (with lots of pockets!), krista made me a cake (better than sex) and a necklace (which i already broke), and john got me a flickr pro account.



my sister did something sentimental, she took me out for dim sum and then gave me my aunt's ring. my aunt passed away when i was little, i didn't really know her when she passed away, but this gift was precious.

i had a quiet birthday at home, it was perfect.

today is my birthday. i'm now 31. funny, i don't feel old.

i had planned to do nothing today except stay in bed and watch the entire lord of the rings trilogy, but alas my plans would be foiled by a wake up call from my sister. she wanted to take me out to dim sum at great seafood harbor for my birthday. who am i to say no to a gift of food? so off i went to eat dim sum for my birthday. pretty yummy!


the rest of the day was perfect, except for a few trips to the computer to check my e-mail i managed to spend the day in bed watching TV. i can't wait to do this again next year.

Happy Birthday John

For John's Birthday I took him out to Outback along with Ron. What man doesn't like a good piece of meat?

i love a bowl french onion soup. i dare say it's my favorite soup. apparently ron likes it too. This one was super cheesy!

ron mentioned to the server that it was john's birthday. i was a little afraid they were going to come over and sing, but luckily they didn't. they just brought over a free ice cream and a card signed by, what i assume to be, other members of the staff, and a gift certificate for a bloomin' onion.

so john, when are we going to use that gift certificate?
